The flagship program of Catalyst Productions, POETIX is an innovative, media-saturated workshop of interactive lessons, A/V examples, and projects offering insight into the history, relevance, and practice of "spoken-word" poetry.
Spoken-word is an emerging art-form fusing elements of literature and theatre to create a unique performance style. POETIX students survey classic and modern poets through print, audio, and video media; they practice writing, and explore performance techniques to create their own spoken-word poems. While reinforcing academic learning the program enhances self-awareness and improves interpersonal communication skills, making POETIX innately valuable to teachers, as well as therapeutic and social service providers.
